Ball Says: “Consumers staying home over the last months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has resulted in shifts in demand for food storage containers like Ball® branded glass jars and lids. Ball and the entire canning industry have experienced an unprecedented demand. The demand has resulted in supply constraints, extended lead times, and recently limited product availability at stores and online. ”
Unfortunately, Ball seems to be favouring the big corporates in the USA as such they will give no indication when they will be supplying internationally again.
We recommend you look at the French and German-made Le Parfait, Weck, and Rex (rather than the low-quality, lead-based Chinese jars.) These alternatives have been manufactured in Europe for over 100 years and are more than twice the thickness of the Ball brand.

Like all canning jars, the rubber rings and glass lids of Weck jars need to be perfectly tear- and chip-free for the seal to become airtight. For the best results, it is always recommended that you use a new rubber ring for each time a jar is processed with heat.
Rubber rings and lids are available singly or in larger packs. Note that the rings come in 5 sizes. The extra small size is 40mm (you will see the number printed on the glass lid for reference).
It is easy to tell when Weck jars are successfully sealed. Canning jars seal after being taken out of the boiling water bath as they are cooling on the counter top. The changing temperature creates the vacuum seals.
If the jar is sealed, the tab on the rubber ring will be pointing down. Allow the jars to cool fully (preferably for 24 hours) before removing the clamps. Check again that the jar is sealed by lifting the lid. If it is sealed the lid will not lift off. If the lid comes of, either reprocess the jar, or put it in the refrigerator and seat the contents in a reasonable time period.
Refer to the Weck chart to see what size rings you need for your jars.
Extra Small suits the following models: 756, 757,788,789. Inner diameter 40mm, outer diameter 50mm.
